I caught a snippet of “Fox & Friends” on a recent Friday while drinking my morning coffee. They focused on the expiration of the COVID emergency and with it, Title 42. If you’re unaware of what Title 42 was, it was one of the only things that “slowed” illegal immigration.
With its expiration, a swarm of illegals surge for the border, and the Biden regime, more than willing to facilitate it, are sending troops down to help process the illegals even faster.
Twitter (which currently won’t embed in Substack posts) reports demonstrate that this is intentional. You can go here and see a Tweet from Tayler Hansen that shows that in the group of migrants he talked to, multiple migrants showed him paperwork with court dates in 2026 and 2027.
4 years from now.
Or more precisely, 2 election cycles.
Bill Melugin tweets here that CBP has nearly 25,000 migrants in custody, and that several border sectors report their over capacity.
With court dates 3 to 4 years away and a government that demonstrates a high-level of incompetency and/or inefficiency, is it really a stretch to think that they’ll simply disappear into a large country like ours with hundreds of millions of residents?
Our country is already in crisis. We’re $31,000,000,000,000 in debt and rising. We can’t take care of the people already here. Allowing a couple million more this year is the very definition of a stupid idea, to the point where the useful idiots who voted for this are protesting, as Twitter Anon “End Wokeness” tweets here.
In that link, you’ll find a brief video showing South Side of Chicago residents up in arms about a few hundred migrants being brought there.
Hold up…I thought these sanctuary cities were supposed to welcome these wayward illegals with open arms?
The reality is, they know that poor people in and around these cities and states already aren’t being served, and schools, hospitals, and social services are ill-equipped to handle the ever expanding wave of poor people needing said services.
The Actors
As I demonstrate with that brief introduction, this is a big deal, even to the 97% of residents of Chicago’s South Side that voted for Biden and this idiocy.
Yet, I couldn’t help but catch something as I watched Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade talk about all of it this morning.
Of the three, Kilmeade displayed a vehement passion and disgust with what’s happening and his authenticity appeared genuine.
Doocy and Earhardt just seem to be going through the motions. They said all the right words that portrayed disgust and anger at what was happening at the border.
But it really came across like they are just actors playing a part and reading the script.
There was really no feeling to it.
With the recent ouster of Tucker Carlson, I feel like there are few people left in the studio at Fox News that really are fed up with what’s going on and speak for Flyover Country.
A few do. Kilmeade I’ve mentioned already. Will Cain, Pete Hegseth, and Rachel Campos-Duffy seem genuine when I’ve watched them host the weekend morning show. Jesse Watters and Judge Jeanine Pirro seems passionate and fed up with the direction of the country. Lawrence Jones frequently comes to Flyover Country and asks tough questions. Greg Gutfeld regularly challenges the narrative and manages to do so with a raw and biting humor that leftists hate.
A number of field reporters, Bill Melugin and Sara Carter, for example, appear professional, passionate, and persistent in covering stories and exposing news that Flyover Country cares about.
Beyond that, I question how many of the regulars see this as a paycheck and a performance.
Hit your cues and your spots. Read the script. Adjust your tone to fit the proper emotion. Cash your check.
Like much of the GOP, it’s lucrative to play the part of “controlled opposition”, a veritable Washington Generals playing against the establishment’s Harlem Globetrotters.
Many of these actors exposed themselves during the 2020 Election Day coverage and in the days immediately after. I remember vividly Bret Baier seeming to be happy about calling Arizona early for Biden, while Sandra Smith scoffed arrogantly at someone challenging Fox’s call, as if SHE and the network were in charge of unfolding events.
The fact that they live and work in urban, leftist bubbles, like D.C. and New York City lead me to believe that they prefer fitting into polite society there and being invited to parties more than they care to represent the Flyover Country values of the vast majority of Fox News viewers.
Their 2020 Election antics turned me off from Fox News, and I rely on Twitter for news on current events now. Fox & Friends Weekend and Tucker (with occasional viewings of The Five and Jesse Watters) continued to hold my interest. Tucker’s exit further degrades Fox News, and I suspect their lion share of Flyover Country viewers will continue to seek other sources.
Flyover Country is desperate for fighters that will represent our values and put our interests and needs first, rather than milquetoast hosts that fear if they rock the boat too much, they’ll be banned from the cocktail circuit in Manhattan and D.C.
This is especially obvious with Trump’s recent CNN townhall.
The Activists
First of all, in the clips I’ve seen, Trump came out swinging. He was the fighter that Flyover Country craves, and he demonstrated why so many Flyover Country residents voted for him in 2016 and 2020.
But, it’s the activists that I want to talk about here.
On CNN, Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper, and all of the other talking heads were apoplectic about how badly the townhall went…for them. What I mean by that is not that they displayed any self-awareness, introspection, or criticism of the job they did.
Rather, it was directed outward at Trump and the decisionmakers who agreed to allow him a platform on their network. They’re activists for their point of view and their chosen party.
They display no neutrality at all. They’re anti-Trump, anti-conservative, anti-GOP, and most definitely anti-Flyover Country.
Take the recent Flyover Country boycotts of Anheuser-Busch or Target. Here’s their reaction:
They might as well just start wearing uniforms with the Big D on it. Show up in t-shirts with Pelosi or the Squad on them.
While Steve, Ainsley, and other Fox News personalities play the role with a stiff formality, the “reporters” on CNN take their method acting to a whole new level. They’re Al Pacino or Christian Bale. They commit to the role and immerse themselves in it and chuck any ethics or professionalism completely out the window.
This type of activism makes Ron DeSantis Presidential Campaign announcement and platform and general approach to the media so intriguing and possibly futuristic.
Twitter Spaces didn’t function as desired (whether through technical failures or deliberate attempts at sabotage). The fact that nearly every legacy media outlet from print to online to TV lashed out that he didn’t cater to their activist whims, tells you that it frightens these activists masquerading as “media”.
Their activism will lose its effectiveness, and rapidly, with the masses, if they don’t have a captive audience and a monopolistic stranglehold on the information that gets to me and my fellow unwashed masses here in Flyover Country. They criticize and mock the announcement and the failures, but just like the town hall, this is really projection about their bigger fears.
Elon Musk and Twitter have an enormous opportunity to bypass them.
And whether a “paid actor” like the ones I see on Fox or a “paid activist” for the Democratic Party and ruling regime in DC on every other network, they’re all struggling through the growing pains and anxiety that come when your business model is in decline and in transition.
They just haven’t come to grips with that reality yet.
