The MERC Aristocracy
Last night's Senate vote on the gun bill demonstrates their contempt for you
If you needed any more proof that our political class despises at least half the country, particularly Flyover Country values, look no further than last night’s Senate vote on the “bipartisan” gun bill. Uni-partisan would be more like it because the 14 Senate Republicans who voted for this aren’t representing the voters who put them in office.
They’re representing the interests of the MERC. What is and who are the “MERC”? Pronounced with a hard “c”, they represent the “managerial experts, ruling class”. You can read more about them in my post from last summer: Defining the MERC.
I’m sure a Joni Ernst will go on Fox News today and defend her vote, saying that it’s “common sense” gun legislation that will stem massacres like we saw in Uvalde. But then, how do you square the circle and address new details, like this:
Our “leaders” are telling us that this new legislation, that merely adds complexity onto the current framework of laws and regulations, will prevent a mass shooter like in Uvalde, from getting a weapon and thus address “mass shootings”. But, even if he somehow is on the radar of the mental health system, law enforcement, and school officials, and still obtains a weapon, you can like “totally trust us to protect you.”
The same leaders assuring us that more government control and more money for the government while simultaneously imposing more regulations and restrictions on you will solve or address issues like school shootings are naïve at best, but more likely dishonest and deceitful. The government meant to “protect” the kids in Uvalde stood down for an hour, with all of that equipment (vests, ballistic shields, etc.) while the wife of a cop, a teacher, bled to death trying to protect her children.
Their response? Stand around and wait, and oh, we’d better disarm her police husband, so he doesn’t go in there and try to do something that’s not in the manual.
Let’s not forget that the shooter was another example of a “known wolf”. This kid had been on the radar of authorities for awhile, and the cops/government meant to protect the kids and residents in Uvalde failed to assert themselves in stopping him in the weeks and months prior to the shooting, failed to stop him while he was still outside the school that day, and then once he was inside the school killing indiscriminately, they waited for nearly an hour with plenty of equipment and NO locked doors before taking any action.
It’s despicable.
They already had tripwires in place to identify malcontents like this. They had a chief of police DEDICATED just to the Uvalde school system. They had all kinds of tactical equipment to provide them EVERY advantage against a lone shooter.
And yet, 19 kids and 2 teachers still died.
And our how do our supposed “leaders” respond?
A new gun bill designed to take away more of your rights to self-reliance and self-defense and instead increase your dependence on police action (inaction, really) like we saw in Uvalde.
We’re supposed to swallow the rationalization that more authority and more money will prevent the next Uvalde? That their gross incompetence will be solved and the problem addressed through their “expertise” and our money?
Spare me.
Senator John Cornyn is from Texas. He’s fresh off of a 2020 re-election to the Senate. Texans like their guns. One of my friends who relocated to Texas several years ago from where I still live, had to rent a separate U-Haul because his company’s relocation vendor wouldn’t haul that many guns across state lines.
I guess, maybe, he’s always been a Texan at heart, even though he was born and raised here.
The point being, Texans have always had an independent streak and have embraced gun culture.
Knowing this is what your constituents desire, you’d think John Cornyn would represent the voters of Texas who elected and re-elected him.
Nope.
Senator Cornyn decided this was the perfect time to stab those voters in the back. At a recent event, they booed him loudly and raucously about his desire to compromise with the never compromising left. His response? “He doesn’t cave to the mob”.
That’s how he views you, his voters. You’re a “mob”.
And it’s telling, that he refers to those booing him as a “mob” instead of constituents he should care about. If he was truly serving them and viewed them as his customer, he would care about their feedback and concerns. Our political leaders, the experts, they want us demoralized and disarmed because they long to return to our pre-Revolutionary War roots.
The MERC want an aristocracy where they rule, and a peasant class (that would be us, Flyover Country) disarmed from any meaningful weapons so you can’t resist. It’s much harder to resist the “Great Reset” when all the “mob” has are torches and pitchforks.
These 14 Republican sellouts know that they’ll get sufficient support from their fellow MERC and will receive “cover” from a compliant left-wing media. They’re also banking on the fact that we still don’t have enough Flyover Country residents and other liberty minded people “red-pilled” yet. The “blue-pills” will continue to cheer their own disarmament and subservience by buying the lie that this is “sensible gun control”.
Biden regime officials are reportedly referring to the Senator as “Cave-in Cornyn”. They’re openly mocking him and every other Republican who agreed to this. The Democrats, the media, and the MERC got what they wanted with the help of spineless Republicans. Cornyn is banking on the fact that over the next 4 years, your attention span will be too short to remember how he betrayed you. Others have less time until their next election, but it underscores the real problem.
The aristocracy is authoritarian. They want to provide more authority for the government to control your independence. And for the naïve and distracted, they simply pull out a handy playbook:
Rinse and repeat.
All of the regulations and laws in place failed to identify and divert the Uvalde shooter before that fateful day. It failed to sufficiently deter him before he obtained the weapon, in spite of numerous interactions with the system purportedly designed to identify people like him. The authorities failed to intercept and stop the shooter for over an hour both prior to his entering the school and after he got inside. Instead, they played the part of crowd control, detaining desperate parents and preventing them from taking action on behalf of their kids.
This same system deploys law enforcement to investigate and intimidate other parents for attempting to hold school boards and school districts accountable for abuses. These same powers demonstrate willful contempt of parents’ wishes whether in Loudoun County or Uvalde, and when faced with an actual threat to act, they stood down.
This “system” will weaponize new powers in the rushed bill from last night to go after threats to the system, NOT possible future mass shooters.
The threat to the “system” isn’t the shooters in Buffalo or Uvalde.
It’s you.
The 1st and 2nd amendments represent the last and best hope for our liberty and independence. That’s why you see the left and complicit right attacking them both so vigorously. They want you silent and disarmed. They see you as a “mob”. They see you as “deplorable”. The MERC aristocracy looks down their nose at us.
You think that people like John Cornyn or Mitch McConnell represent the interests of the states of Texas and Kentucky and their residents, but they really serve their masters in Washington. They’re useful idiots that get to feed at the trough. It will be “rinse and repeat” and in a few months or years, more incidents will create the emotional environment “just do something!” and to push a bit further in eroding the 1st and 2nd amendment, allowing the MERC to seize more power from you.
The Cornyn’s, Graham’s, and McConnell’s talk tough, pretending to oppose the Democrats and Biden regime, but I think this tweet sums it up best (speaking about McConnell):
You have to remember, they want the same things. They want to stay in power, well into their 80’s. They want to use their offices to get rich. Many of them may go to D.C. with the best of intentions, prepared to fight for you and represent you. Some, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Rand Paul, appear to take that seriously and stay on mission. Most others get sucked into and hypnotized by all of the potential personal benefits they receive by falling in line.
The MERC keep growing government to their benefit not yours, as I outlined in the following post: Waging "Wars" is More Lucrative than Winning Them.
The primaries and the continued fight between the America First/Trump side of the GOP and the Ronna/Mitch side of the GOP is telling. One side nominates and supports candidates in the primary (J.D. Vance, Blake Masters) who vow to fight the corruption that goes on in D.C. and big government. This challenges the MERC, so the America Last side fights to nominate candidates who will keep the gravy train flowing.
Last night’s gun bill passing in the Senate represents the America Last side asserting (at least for now) their control and smacking you in the face with it:
While everyone expects a red wave in November, ushering in large majorities for Republicans in the House, and an expected majority in the Senate, this will all be for naught if the Democrats can count on 10 to 14 sellouts every time to get their wish list on things like amnesty for illegal immigrants and red flag laws for guns.
These 14 Senators can rationalize how they’re not REALLY enabling gun control or red flag laws or a full blown federal firearms registry. But they’re not fooling me, and they’re not fooling a lot of others in Flyover Country who took the red pill.
They constantly betray their voters and expect to skate by without some backlash.
They know that once in place their constituents will be abused by the system with this new legislation as a pretext. All you have to do is look at the unequal treatment of conservatives vs. leftists on social media, or those involved with January 6th vs. antifa or Jane’s revenge, and you know that you can’t expect impartial, just treatment under this new law, anymore than you can expect it under existing laws.
You voted for a John Cornyn or a Joni Ernst expecting them to protect Flyover Country values. You expected them and others like them to represent you, to fight for you, to PROTECT you. They voted for this legislation knowing full well that it leaves you vulnerable to governmental abuse and that you’ll suffer from it.
They’re so arrogant and secure in their positions that they simply don’t care.
And that is the ultimate contempt with all of this.
