We’ve reached a point, where one side refuses to define what a woman is. That same side attempts to force you to validate their feelings and refer to them by “preferred pronouns” even though doing so runs counter to my own religious valid beliefs, similar to the beliefs held by many Flyover Country residents.
We’re reaching a point in our nation, where more and more, certain segments of society, particularly those in blue coastal and urban areas seek to impose their own religious beliefs on the rest of us - by force, if necessary.
Over the last several years, this trend has increased the calls for a “national divorce”. You see this on both sides. Leftists claim that Flyover Country shouldn’t have as many senators as the coastal areas and suggest that we need them, but they don’t need us.
But more frequently, I see this come up on the right. Pundits like Jesse Kelly, suggest that it’s time to move to red areas and fortify them because this national divorce is coming. That gets people talking about the “looming Civil War” or comparisons to that era.
In my post above, I write about how events of today often echo events of the past, and while some talk of “national divorce” or a “new Civil War”, I think what we’re living through right now is more like the pre-Revolutionary War era 1760’s and 1770’s, rather than the pre-Civil War era 1850’s.
It’s Not a Sectional Conflict
The Civil War, as much as anything, was a “sectional conflict”. It was “North vs. South". Sure, it wasn’t that simple or neat. There were border states with slaveholders and divided loyalties. But, you knew by and large, if you were in Montpelier, Michigan, or Minnesota, you were aligned with the North and the Union. If you were in Atlanta, Alabama, or Arkansas, you were with the South and the Confederacy.
It was pretty cut and dried.
That’s not where things are today.
I live in a red area, of a blue state. The blue ideology is leaking from urban areas into our communities. With this come more conflicts among local leaders over exactly how are Flyover Country community should operate. It’s become less about “sectional geography” and more about ideology.
And that creates a certain “uneasiness” among people I’ve noticed of late. People are guarded about what they say to whom. Once upon a time you could speak freely about your beliefs, and you’d know that even if the person didn’t agree with you, it wasn’t threatening for either of you.
Now, it doesn’t seem to be the case, particularly Flyover Country beliefs, even when you reside smack-dab in the middle of Flyover Country.
It’s Not Really About Republican vs. Democrat
By and large, those Flyover Country beliefs align with red, Republican, conservative ideology. That means there are two sexes. That censorship is bad. That our Constitutional rights are absolute and NOT conditional.
But, of late, I’ve also noticed a troubling trend.
I’ve tried to explain this to one of my friend’s and his dad. They are hardcore Democrats with a capital “D” and the brightest of bright blues. They will ONLY vote for Democrats. To my friend and his dad, the Antifa clad, pro-Palestinian rioters from the left are invisible or a right-wing conspiracy.
The real problem is all of the crazies on the right.
Sigh.
They refuse to condemn or even acknowledge that the left is far more radical and crazed and violent, than anything you see from the right. They see mainstream media and Facebook warn them about white nationalism, which they clearly believe, and also clearly associate with conservative Republicans. They believe the Democrat mayor of Chicago, when he claims the city’s problems aren’t caused by 100 years of Democrat control.
It’s caused by far-right Republicans.
🤦🏼♂️
Like Brandon Johnson, they see Proud Boys and Oath Keepers as the real forces of chaos, not Antifa, BLM, and now this pro-Palestinian rioters…NONE of whom are from the right. These are all leftists, dyed in the wool Dems, just like them.
They refuse to acknowledge the real problem: Insider vs. Outsider.
Loyalist vs. Patriots
Or more appropriately, Loyalists vs. Patriots.
You see, during the decade leading up the Civil War, if you were in Iowa, New York, or Ohio, you could feel fairly secure and confident that your friends and neighbors, regardless of their political affiliation, were almost certainly pro-Union. They likely disagreed on some of the particulars, but they were in alignment against the disruptive aims of the slaveholding South.
But in the years leading up to 1776 and the Declaration of Independence, people didn’t know what you stood for necessarily. They couldn’t be certain if you supported the Stamp Act or the Boston Tea Party. Were you a supporter of King George III or the Sons of Liberty?
Anonymity then and now is key. Just like our Founding Fathers frequently wrote essays and articles anonymously to denounce the British Empire or support the Colonists (or both), you have anons now on X and Substack saying what they really think about our current crop of “kings”.
And what many of us think is that this current government no longer represents us. Just like cries of “no taxation without representation”, I’ve noticed over the last few weeks on X, how Patriots can’t understand how our “representatives” are focused on securing borders everywhere but here and expelling George Santos (who hasn’t even been convicted of anything yet).
Patriots marvel how trust fund Loyalists like Dan Goldman, can berate Patriot Michael Shellenberger, and with a straight face claim that 35% censorship isn’t really violating the absolute free speech guaranteed with the 1st Amendment. Loyalists like Hunter Biden continue to skate, while other Loyalists attempt to blackmail Patriot Elon Musk.
Elon is channeling and giving a voice to this new “spirit of ‘76”, a true Patriot telling the Loyalists to “go f**k themselves”. The Loyalists include the Bidens, the Goldmans, the Obamas, Bushes, and McConnells. It’s the Romneys, McDaniels, and probably even the Nikki Haley’s of the world.
It’s any of the politicians and bureaucrats that care more about maintaining the system’s status quo for their own power and benefit than on fixing real problems that our nation’s citizens are asking for. They all represent a belief in propping up a rotting, corrupt, failing system because it works…
…for them.
They attack Patriots like Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Russell Brand, and Tucker Carlson because they threaten to crash the system. When any of these Patriots point out the corruption and failures of the current system to represent Flyover Country or the good old U.S. of A, they screech like demons.
These Loyalists constantly burden us with the shackles of their failing empire by taxing the modern day equivalents of tea and paper and attempting to take our guns, like the Redcoats did at Lexington and Concord.
The Loyalists love the current system and all of the spoils and insider benefits it bestows upon it. But they know that their new empire is slipping away, and instead of acknowledging their failures or that this system no longer even represents us, let alone benefits us, they simply seek to silence and eliminate those Patriots who notice, in order to enrich themselves a little while longer.
They imprison January 6th Patriots who protested clear 2020 electoral irregularities (if not downright fraud). They indict and gag Donald Trump. They attempt financial blackmail on Elon Musk hoping that topples X and eliminates that pesky 1st Amendment with the Goldman-esque 65% free speech option.
In essence, what Flyover Country and all of you need to capture is this new spirit of ‘76. I can’t tell you how to do that, but you need to find your own way to be able to tell the Loyalists to “go f**k themselves”. I do it through how I run the non-profit I’m CEO of, through my posts on this Substack, and now through my brand new account on X - @FlyoverNobody.
Go out there this weekend, Flyover Country, and in your own way and style, tell some Loyalist hack you know to “go f**k themselves”!
