When I was in the corporate world, I interviewed probably something on the order of 500+ candidates for a variety of job openings at our company. HR required a handful of “compliance” related questions that must be asked verbatim at each of these interviews. I can still recite many of them.
One of these questions was in effect, something along the lines of “are you able to perform the basic functions of this job, with or without a reasonable accommodation?”
This question demonstrated compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and ensured that HR could confidently state our organization’s compliance with Federal law.
My experience with that goes back 20 years. We’ve now reached a point where everything has been bastardized into society being held hostage by narcissists into providing an endless array of “unreasonable accommodations”.
Look at the headlines over the last few years, and you’ll understand what I mean.
A male, William Thomas, decides that he’s a female named Lia Thomas and demands that the NCAA and actual female swimmers must accommodate his narcissism and/or mental illness. He expects unreasonable accommodations under the banner of “transgenderism”.
Similarly, we had a vendor that I worked with recently who, though, obviously a woman and a mother, insisted we provide the unreasonable accommodation of bending the English language to invent and refer to her by the pronouns “xe/xer”.
Then, there’s the recent tragic death of Laken Riley.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution referred to the illegal immigrant from Venezuela as “an Athens man”, implying that he was a citizen and resident of that Georgia community. They expect you to provide the unreasonable accommodation of denying the reality of who this killer is, where he comes from, but especially, how he got here.
The AP, not to be outdone, claimed that the real cause of her heinous murder isn’t the intentionality of the Biden regime border policies of open border, catch and release, sanctuary cities, corrupt, soft on crime prosecutors, or the weaponized empathy industrial complex that labels you a bigot for questioning the sanity of any of these obviously self-destructive policies.
No, the AP “informs” you that the real problem is women jogging by themselves.
So, now, we’ve reached the demand of an unreasonable accommodation on all females to change YOUR lifestyle.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
It’s become a pattern over the last 5 to 10 years that seems to be accelerating. With each unreasonable request – “it’s just a mask”, “it’s just 2 weeks to slow the spread”, it’s just my preferred pronouns”, “it’s just a poor refugee seeking to escape climate change or wanting economic freedom…they just want a better life, you bigot!!” – they attempt to gaslight you into believing that YOU are the cold-hearted miser.
YOU are the unreasonable one.
It’s somehow “unreasonable” to expect that people don’t break our laws and settle here illegally. It’s “unreasonable” to demand that our government stop providing benefits and incentives to these lawbreakers via free housing, childcare, and food. It’s unreasonable to assert there are only two sexes or that they can’t arbitrarily expect you to validate them and let them compete against the opposite sex, as if THAT is the reality.
It’s unreasonable to expect for our government paid for by US to ensure our safety against violence from lawbreakers.
They want to flip reality to make you think all of those expectations are somehow “unreasonable, and simultaneously, they expect you to view each of these unreasonable accommodations in a vacuum as “the least you can do”. They want you focused on the small stuff, so you don’t recognize it’s merely death by a thousand cuts or the drip, drip, drip of water torture. You must view them in the aggregate.
From 30,000 feet, the insidious nature of this compilation means that each “small sacrifice” they ask of you merely moves the ball further and further away from the benign concept of reasonable accommodation or your reasonable expectations of how a truly functional society, a society we had as recently as a few years ago, should operate.
We MUST start pushing back on their tactic of making small requests for unreasonable accommodation in order to bully you into submission. We must assert that our expectations are reasonable. Without this, over time, you’ll have been buried in an avalanche of unreasonable accommodations and caved on asserting for your very reasonable expectations. We’ll end up with a completely altered society as you know it.
We may already be there.
Tragically, if we fail to find the courage to say “no” and assert our voice on what is reasonable and what’s truly unreasonable, more innocent lives may end up sacrificed on the altar of these unreasonable accommodations.
